Job summary

Kirklees Metropolitan Council is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead the new Family Help service in Kirklees. You will shape the model, supervise Team Managers, Practice Supervisors and Social Workers, and drive early intervention and multi-agency planning.

You will champion safeguarding, high-quality practice and learning across services, with responsibility for performance, budgets and strategic development in line with Families First reforms.

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker registered with Social Work England.
• Significant post-qualifying experience in children and families.
• Managerial experience leading social care teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership across Family Help teams, ensuring high-quality, child-focused and family-centred practice.
• Line manage Team Managers and support them to lead confident, effective and resilient teams.
• Embed the Family Help model as part of Families First reforms, promoting earlier help and effective multi-agency planning.
• Ensure safeguarding, risk analysis and decision-making are robust, timely and proportionate.
• Use performance information to identify strengths, address gaps and drive service improvement.
• Develop partnerships across education, health, police, and community services to deliver joined-up support.
