Job summary

Kirklees Metropolitan Council is recruiting a Service Manager to lead the new Family Help service in Kirklees. You will oversee Family Help teams, shaping practice to be relationship‑based and outcome‑focused, while safeguarding and early intervention remain central to leadership and service delivery.

You will manage performance, budgets and learning, ensuring services demonstrate impact and deliver aligned local and national priorities within a multi‑agency framework.

Qualifications

• Qualified and Social Work England registered social worker.
• Significant post-qualifying experience in children and families work.
• Experience at a managerial level and with multi-agency collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership across Family Help teams.
• Line-manage Team Managers and support robust team performance.
• Embed the Family Help model within the Families First reforms.
• Ensure safeguarding, risk analysis and timely, proportionate decision making.
• Use data and QA feedback to drive service improvement.
• Develop partnerships across education, health, police and council services.
• Support staff wellbeing, supervision, development and resilience.
• Lead change management and drive continuous improvement.
