Job summary

South Gloucestershire Council is seeking a Senior Family Support Worker to lead the Family Help pathway within the Family Help Community team. The role involves delivering evidence-based interventions for children, parents and wider family members, with a focus on continuity and stability as families progress from Targeted Early Help to Child in Need.

The successful candidate will hold or be working towards NVQ 4 or equivalent, have extensive experience with children and families, and

Qualifications

• Holder of, or working towards, a professional qualification such as NVQ 4 or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Significant experience of working with children, young people and families, including delivering evidence-based interventions and developing Family Help support plans.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, procedures and safeguarding practice, with confidence assessing risk and escalating concerns appropriately.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including chairing meetings and coordinating multi-agency support with families and professionals.
• Ability to maintain clear records, write effective reports, use relevant IT systems and make competent day-to-day decisions with appropriate professional judgement.

Responsibilities

• Case-hold Targeted Early Help and Child in Need work long term, from assessment through to closure.
• Provide continuity when needs increase or become more complex, including continuing as Family Help Lead Practitioner for continuity.
• Chair meetings and coordinate multi-agency support with families and professionals.
• Undertake assessments, plans, interventions and reviews from allocation through to closure.
