Job summary

South Gloucestershire Council is seeking a Senior Family Support Worker to deliver evidence-based interventions for families within Targeted Early Help and Child in Need pathways.

The role requires a professional qualification, substantial experience with children and families, strong safeguarding knowledge, and excellent communication to coordinate multi‑agency support while maintaining clear case records.

Qualifications

• Hold, or be working towards, a professional qualification such as NVQ 4 or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Significant experience of working with children, young people and families, including delivering evidence-based interventions.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, safeguarding practice and ability to assess risk.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including chairing meetings and coordinating multi‑agency support.
• Ability to maintain clear records, write reports, use IT systems and exercise sound professional judgement.

Responsibilities

• Case-hold Targeted Early Help and Child in Need work, completing assessments, plans, interventions and reviews from allocation through to closure.
• Retaining the Family Help Lead Practitioner role when families step up from Targeted Early Help to Child in Need, providing continuity and trusted relationships.
