Job summary

South Gloucestershire Council’s children’s social care service is recruiting a Senior Family Support Worker to lead Family Help practice in the Community Team. You will deliver evidence-based interventions with children, parents and families to secure lasting change.

You will case-hold Targeted Early Help and Child in Need work, coordinating multi-agency plans and mentoring Family Support Workers, with oversight from a Senior Social Worker.

Qualifications

• Hold or be working towards a professional qualification such as NVQ 4 or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Significant experience working with children, young people and families, including delivering interventions and developing Family Help support plans.
• Knowledge of legislation, safeguarding practice and risk assessment.

Responsibilities

• Case-hold Targeted Early Help and Child in Need work from assessment through to closure.
• Retain the Family Help Lead Practitioner role when escalation occurs, ensuring continuity.
• Deliver direct, evidence-based and whole-family work to build safety and sustain change.
• Coordinate Family Network Meetings and Team Around the Child activity for clear, timely plans.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and practice guidance to Family Support Workers and contribute to specialist areas of practice.
