Job summary

Moody's is seeking a Senior External Communications Strategist to lead strategic communications, build media relationships, and elevate thought leadership across the EMEA region. You will partner with internal teams to craft compelling narratives and manage external and internal messaging for complex financial services markets.

The role requires crafting influential media campaigns, leveraging AI tools to optimize results, and providing executive-level counsel to senior business partners.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in communications, public relations, and/or journalism.
• Experience in regulated industries, financial services, technology, or related sectors preferred.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
• Strong media relations experience with the ability to build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets across the EMEA region.
• Excellent presentation skills and on-screen presence with the ability to influence senior partners.
• Highly organized with strong time management and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment.
• Demonstrated proficiency in AI concepts with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows.
• English proficiency essential; business fluency in German, French, or Arabic at B2 level or higher preferred.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure aligned messaging.
• Provide occasional weekend and out-of-hours support for media relations.

Skills and Competencies

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in communications, public relations, and/or journalism, ideally within an agency environment
• Experience in regulated industries, financial services, technology, or related sectors preferred
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop compelling narratives for diverse audiences
• Strong media relations experience with the ability to build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets across the EMEA region
• Excellent presentation skills and impactful on-screen presence with the ability to advise and influence senior business partners
• Highly organized with strong time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment
• Comfortable using Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365 applications, Copilot, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and SharePoint
• Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use.
• English proficiency is essential; business fluency in German, French, or Arabic at B2 level or higher is preferred

Education

• Undergraduate degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, Economics, or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

Develop and execute strategic communications initiatives that strengthen Moody's brand, reputation, and thought leadership across the EMEA region.

• Partner with internal business groups to develop and deliver external and internal communications strategies that support business objectives
• Create and execute media outreach plans, key messages, question and answer documents, spokesperson materials, and other communications content
• Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media organizations to enhance Moody's visibility and thought leadership
• Proactively identify and secure opportunities for media interviews, earned speaking engagements, commentary placements, and thought leadership coverage
• Respond to media inquiries promptly and effectively while ensuring accurate and consistent representation of Moody's perspectives
• Leverage AI-enabled tools to support communications campaigns, monitor media coverage, analyze results, and develop reporting insights
• Collaborate with marketing, branding, public relations, investor relations, and other cross-functional teams to ensure aligned messaging and communications activities
• Provide occasional weekend and out-of-hours support for media relations activities, including monitoring shared communications channels and responding to urgent inquiries

The External Communications team within Global Corporate Affairs is responsible for strengthening Moody's reputation and positioning the company as a leading provider of insights on risk. The team partners closely with business leaders and subject matter experts to elevate thought leadership, support strategic business priorities, and enhance stakeholder engagement across global markets. By joining the team, you will contribute to high-impact communications initiatives across the EMEA region while helping advance innovative approaches to storytelling, media engagement, and responsible adoption of AI-enabled communications tools.
