Job summary

Emtec Utility Services, based at the Uddingston office, is seeking an experienced Estimator to secure new work by delivering accurate and competitive tender submissions. You will work with design, commercial and operations teams to develop costings aligned with technical standards and client expectations.

The role involves preparing detailed take-offs, costings, and ITT submissions, reviewing drawings, and supporting early contract development.

Qualifications

• Previous estimating experience in electrical utilities, infrastructure or similar environment.
• A degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in a commercial or engineering discipline would be beneficial.
• Experience using AutoCAD to produce design and as-fitted drawings.
• Good understanding of current DNO and INA regulations, codes of practice and legislative requirements.
• Confidence interpreting specifications and technical drawings.
• Understanding contracts, conditions and obligations.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Preparing detailed take-offs and bills of quantities for tender opportunities.
• Producing accurate customer quotations and project costings.
• Completing quotation letters, PQQs and ITT submissions.
• Reviewing specifications and drawings for accuracy and buildability.
• Supporting the early design and development of potential contracts.
• Assisting with the planning and preparation of larger projects.
• Developing strong relationships with suppliers to secure competitive pricing.
• Working collaboratively with internal teams to produce high-quality tender submissions.
