Job summary

Kier is hiring a Senior Estimator to lead the estimating process for projects in railway, aviation, nuclear and defence sectors. The role offers remote work with occasional office visits and a 40-hour week.

You will manage tender processes, ensure accurate estimates, and collaborate with procurement while mentoring junior staff. Degree in construction/civil eng with professional qualification required.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC in construction or civil engineering, plus a professional qualification.
• Experience as an Estimator with a major civil engineering contractor or as a Senior Estimator with Tier 2 contractors.
• Solid understanding of railway sector work types, possession working, and typical site constraints.

Responsibilities

• Lead the estimating process from client documents to handover to delivery teams.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of estimates; present findings at bid team meetings and reviews.
• Prepare structured items and quantities using methods of measurement; price work under various contracts forms.
• Collaborate with procurement to develop supply chain strategies and appraise quotations.
• Identify key risks, supervise junior team members, and support their development.
