Job summary

Howells Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Estimator to join a growing passive fire protection contractor based in Kent. You will apply strong estimating experience in fire stopping, compartmentation or fire doors to prepare competitive tenders.

The role involves reviewing drawings and specifications, taking-off quantities, pricing with main contractors and coordinating with commercial teams to deliver successful projects.

Qualifications

• Experience as Estimator in passive fire protection industry.
• Knowledge of fire stopping, compartmentation and/or fire doors.
• Experience pricing projects for main contractors, housing associations or public-sector clients.
• Strong ability to read construction drawings, specs and scopes of work.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate estimates and quotations for passive fire protection projects.
• Review tender docs, drawings, specs and scope of works.
• Undertake take-offs and quantify labour, materials and costs.
• Interpret fire strategy drawings and construction drawings.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and subcontractors for pricing.
• Identify risks, exclusions and variations; prepare tender returns.
• Attend site visits and tender meetings as required.
• Collaborate with Commercial, Pre-Construction and Operations teams for smooth handover.
• Maintain estimating records and improve processes.
• Stay up-to-date with passive fire protection products, regulations and standards.
