Aecon’s Civil East sector seeks a Senior Estimator to prepare and document cost estimates and execution plans for construction projects. You will compute costs for materials, equipment, subcontracted work and labor in bid tendering, contributing to successful bids.

Responsibilities include design reviews for MEP, Civil and Architectural packages, sketches and specifications, value engineering, and unit pricing with estimating software. Strong project controls knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Engineering, Project Management or equivalent.
• 5–8 years of estimating experience on medium to large construction projects.
• Knowledge of procurement routes, value management and value engineering.
• Experience with estimating software such as Excel, Project, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, P6 or Hard Dollar.
• Strong knowledge of project controls including costs and scheduling.
• Experience reading and understanding construction drawings and documents.
• Familiarity with contract language and bonding.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Knowledge of sub-trades; RICS or AACE qualifications are valuable but not required.

Responsabilités

• Participate in design reviews for MEP, Civil and Architectural packages with client stakeholders.
• Create sketches, drawings and specifications to meet client requirements; analyze blueprints and docs.
• Perform value engineering and constructability reviews in preconstruction.
• Drive production of detailed cost budgets for bid projects.
• Maintain a historical cost database for estimating new work.
• Oversee bid-winning projects in construction to learn actual costs and methods.
• Execute quantity takeoffs and unit prices using estimating software.
• Connect with vendors and suppliers for pricing information.
• Solicit scopes of work and quotations from subcontractors.
• Support tender closings and turnover meetings with Project Management.
• Site visits may be required for complex tenders.
