Job summary

Whitehouse Construction, a family-owned civil engineering and environmental contractor, invites applications for a Senior Estimator. You will own tenders from enquiry to submission, developing robust cost plans and commercial justifications.

Collaborate with BD, Bid Management and the supply chain to deliver competitive, deliverable tenders across projects. You will lead an estimating team, analyse drawings and specs, and identify risks and value engineering opportunities, ensuring auditable

Qualifications

• Experience in civil engineering estimating for main contractors or specialist civil works.
• Ability to prepare detailed estimates and tenders with clear commercial justification.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, programmes and value engineering.

Responsibilities

• Manage, mentor and support the estimating team.
• Lead the preparation of detailed estimates and tenders for civil projects.
• Review drawings, specs and contract docs to establish project requirements.
• Undertake detailed quantity take-offs and measurements.
• Develop labour, plant, materials and subcontractor costs.
• Prepare first-principles and rate build-ups.
• Obtain and negotiate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Identify risks and opportunities within tender documentation.
• Develop tender assumptions, exclusions, clarifications and qualifications.
• Collaborate with operations to ensure achievable methodologies and programmes.
• Review supply chain quotations for price and scope coverage.
• Present tender summaries to senior management for review and approval.
