Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Senior Estimator with defence estimating experience to support key Defence clients across the South East, South West and Midlands in the UK.

The role involves leading estimates from Order of Magnitude to detailed levels, ensuring estimating assurance, and developing major programme estimating strategy. Strong client-facing skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Estimating, Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering.
• Experience working in the Defence sector.
• Proven ability to compile, assure and deliver complex estimates and cost models.
• Experience working within an integrated Project Controls team on public-sector projects.
• Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and client-facing experience.

Turner & Townsend is a leading consultancy provider to the Infrastructure and Defence sectors. We are looking for a Senior Estimator with proven Defence estimating experience to support key Defence sector clients across the South East, South West and Midlands.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and produce accurate estimates for projects and programmes, ranging from Order of Magnitude to detailed estimates.
• Ensure estimating assurance and develop major programme estimating strategy.
• Provide commercial data and benchmarking to support client decision‑making.
• Support new work bids and promote estimating best practice within the team.
• Act as a role model and mentor junior staff; manage staff where appropriate.

Preferred:

• Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or degree level education.
• Early‑stage estimating experience in major Defence infrastructure programmes.
• Familiarity with industry‑standard estimating software packages.

Additional Information

Security Clearance: You must be a UK national able to achieve and maintain UK MoD Security Clearance (SC).

Compliance with SOX control responsibilities may be required where applicable.
