Job summary

Browne Construction in Hemel Hempstead seeks a Senior Estimator to lead high-value tenders for utility and civil projects. You will steer pre-construction activities, develop cost estimates and assess risks to deliver competitive, commercially robust submissions.

You will collaborate with operations, commercial and technical teams, mentor the estimating group and build strong client and supplier relationships to drive profitable bids and sustainable growth.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Senior Estimator or Estimator role within utilities, infrastructure or civil engineering.
• Demonstrated success in preparing winning tenders and profitable projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, pricing and commercial principles.
• Ability to develop estimates from first principles and interpret technical, commercial, and contractual documents.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience leading, mentoring, or developing estimating teams.
• Degree qualification in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
• Familiarity with BIM and digital construction tools advantageous.

Responsibilities

Are you an experienced Estimator looking for an opportunity to take the lead on high-value infrastructure projects and play a key role in shaping the future growth of a business? We are seeking a Senior Estimator to join our Commercial team, where you will be responsible for delivering accurate, competitive, and commercially robust tenders that support the successful delivery of projects across the utility sector.

As a Senior Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in the pre-construction phase, managing the tender process from initial enquiry through to submission and handover. Working closely with operational, commercial, and technical teams, you will develop competitive cost estimates, assess project risks and opportunities, review technical and contractual requirements, and ensure submissions are delivered to a high standard and within agreed timescales. You will also provide leadership to the estimating team, build strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors, and contribute to securing profitable projects that support the continued growth of the business.

What We're Looking For
