Job summary

M & K Consult Ltd is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead the estimating function on diverse construction projects in the North West. Based in Oldham, you will oversee tender production from enquiry through submission, collaborating with Directors, Pre-Construction and operations teams to secure profitable work.

You will review drawings, prepare take-offs and cost plans, obtain subcontractor quotations and identify risks, opportunities and value engineering options to optimise bids and project

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator in construction.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, procurement routes and contracts.
• Experience pricing projects across various sectors.
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders to tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of competitive tenders and estimates.
• Review tender documentation, drawings and specifications.
• Prepare accurate take-offs and cost plans.

Senior Estimator

Salary: £70k plus package

My client is a growing and ambitious construction business delivering high-quality projects across the North West. With a strong reputation for quality, collaboration and client satisfaction, we continue to secure exciting opportunities across a range of sectors and are now looking to strengthen our Pre-Construction team with the appointment of an experienced Senior Estimator. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator looking to play a key role within a forward-thinking business where your input will directly influence project success and company growth.

The Role

As Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for leading the estimating function on a variety of construction projects, producing competitive tenders and supporting the business in securing profitable work. Working closely with Directors, Pre-Construction, Commercial and Operational teams, you will manage the tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, procurement routes and contract forms.
• Experience pricing projects across sectors such as commercial, residential, education, healthcare or public sector works.
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and work to strict deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software packages.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
