Job summary

Morson Group is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead the pricing and commercial strategy on major infrastructure projects. This role focuses on preparing detailed and competitive tenders, supporting bid activities from initial pricing through to contract award, and working closely with bid, planning, procurement, design and operations teams to secure opportunities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Estimator within civil engineering, infrastructure or major construction projects.
• Ability to price labour, plant, materials and preliminaries.
• Knowledge of procurement processes and supply chain engagement.
• Strong stakeholder management and collaboration across bid, engineering, commercial and operational teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for major infrastructure and civil engineering projects.
• Produce pricing for tenders, budget estimates and early contractor involvement opportunities.
• Coordinate with Bid Managers, Planners and Design teams to develop winning tender submissions.
• Assess alternative construction methodologies and design solutions for cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare labour, plant, material and subcontractor pricing build-ups.
• Review quotations for compliance, value and commercial suitability.
• Develop preliminary costs, staff resource forecasts and project overheads.
• Contribute to risk and opportunity assessments throughout the tender process.
• Present cost build-ups and recommendations at tender reviews and settlements.
• Support post-tender negotiations, clarifications and client queries.

Senior Estimator
Looking for an opportunity to lead the pricing and commercial strategy on major infrastructure projects?
Were supporting a leading engineering and construction business in the search for a Senior Estimator to join their work-winning team. This role will be responsible for preparing detailed and competitive tenders, supporting bid activities from initial pricing through to contract award, and working closely with bid, planning, procurement, design and operational teams to secure major project opportunities.

• Leading the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for major infrastructure and civil engineering projects.
• Producing pricing for tenders, budget estimates and early contractor involvement opportunities.
• Working closely with Bid Managers, Planners and Design teams to develop winning tender submissions.
• Assessing alternative construction methodologies and design solutions to identify the most cost-effective approach.
• Preparing labour, plant, material and subcontractor pricing build-ups.
• Coordinating supplier and subcontractor enquiries alongside procurement teams.
• Reviewing quotations for compliance, value and commercial suitability.
• Developing preliminary costs, staff resource forecasts and project overheads.
• Contributing to risk and opportunity assessments throughout the tender process.
• Presenting cost build-ups and recommendations at tender review, pre-settlement and settlement meetings.
• Supporting post-tender negotiations, clarifications and client queries.
• Producing project handover documentation for successful bids and participating in lessons-learned reviews for unsuccessful submissions.

What Were Looking For

• Proven experience as a Senior Estimator, Estimator or Cost Planning professional within civil engineering, infrastructure or major construction projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, temporary works and project delivery techniques.
• Experience pricing labour, plant, materials, subcontract works and preliminaries.
• Knowledge of procurement processes and supply chain engagement.
• Commercial awareness across a range of contract forms.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across bid, engineering, commercial and operational functions.
• Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Ability to work to challenging bid deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
