Job summary

Talk Recruitment Ltd. is seeking an Estimator or Senior Estimator to join a leading Tier 1 building main contractor. Hybrid working available with 2–3 days in the office and the rest remote.

The candidate will work on tendering for diverse projects, build up costs for traditional trades, and liaise with internal and external clients while managing tight deadlines and multiple bids.

Qualifications

• Experience as Estimator or Senior Estimator on building projects.
• Tendering for building projects experience.
• Be aware of current market prices for construction work.
• Sound technical knowledge of the construction process.
• Able to lead and liaise with internal and external clients.
• Commercially aware of contractual implications of common forms of contract.
• Proven ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.
• Demonstrate bid co-ordination and leadership.
• Ability to build up costs for traditional trades.
• Understand supply chain prime cost build ups and challenge quotations.
• Proven supply chain relationships with operational teams.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering and best value.
• Main Contractor employment history is essential.

Estimator or Senior Estimator – Leading Tier 1 Building Main Contractor

Sector: Building / Construction

Hybrid Working – 2 / 3 Days office and rest remote / home working.

Requirements

To be considered for this Estimator role you must meet the following criteria:

• Previous work as an Estimator or Senior Estimator.
• Experience of tendering for building projects.
• Be aware of current market prices for construction work.
• Have a sound technical knowledge of the construction process.
• Work closely with internal and external clients.
• Able to lead and liaise with other members of the team both internally and externally.
• Commercially aware of the contractual implications of common forms of contract.
• Demonstrate ability to work to tight deadlines and deal with multiple projects and short tendering periods.
• Demonstrate logical and effective bid co-ordination and leadership skills.
• Ability to build up costs for traditional trades (groundwork, brickwork, joinery, etc.)
• Demonstrate full commercial awareness of supply chain prime cost build ups and be able to constructively challenge specific quotations.
• Proven track record of established supply chain relationships and with operational teams.
• Ability to identify opportunities for value engineering and achieve best value prime cost.
• Relevant Industry qualification.
• Main Contractor employment history is essential.
