Job summary

NHS Golden Jubilee Estates Department is seeking a Senior Estates Manager (Mechanical Bias) to lead the delivery of mechanical and building services across the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital and Conference Hotel.

The post requires degree-level education or equivalent and ideally Chartered Engineer status, with strong management of estates teams, contractors and budgets to support safe patient care and compliant facilities.

Qualifications

• Degree-level education or equivalent experience in engineering or building services.
• Significant experience managing estates/services in a healthcare environment.
• Chartered Engineer status and membership of a recognised engineering institution preferred.
• Strong managerial and staff supervision skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Estates Department delivering safe, efficient and cost‑effective services.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operational activities and manage staff and contracted specialists.
• Drive integration of new projects with existing services through collaboration with project teams and clinical/non-clinical staff.
• Ensure compliance with statutory NHS Healthcare standards and guidelines.

Job description

NHS Golden Jubilee Estates Department require a Senior Estates Manager (Mechanical Bias), to manage the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital & the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel.

Individuals will be professionally responsible for meeting the organisation's key objectives, for the delivery of patient care by the provision of effective, efficient and safe operation of estates services, systems and budgetary resource, in compliance with statutory & mandatory NHS Healthcare standards & guidelines. As well as the day to day operational activities of the Estates Department, technical & managerial control of directly employed and specialist contract staff. The individual will facilitate the integration of new projects to existing services & infrastructure, through inter-action with the project manager, clinical & non-clinical staff, technical consultants, design teams, contractors & specialists.

The post holder will be educated to degree level or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience gained through vocational qualifications and significant experience of managing services within a complex healthcare environment. Ideally, the post holder will hold Chartered Engineer status and membership of a recognised Engineering or Building Services professional institution. The post holder will demonstrate a strong technical understanding of complex building services, healthcare engineering systems, equipment and associated services.

Individuals must also demonstrate excellent managerial skills acquired through academic development, experience & training courses enabling post-holder to motivate, manage, direct & support staff & contractors.
