Job summary

Leonardo UK is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer in the Detectors Area of Business to lead systems engineering activities for EO/IR technologies within a diverse product portfolio. The role is based at the Southampton site with hybrid working options and a strong emphasis on delivering high-performing teams and technical vision.

Qualifications

• Experienced Systems Engineer or Scientist with an Electronics background.
• Ability to apply systems thinking to deliver EO/IR capabilities across detector products.
• Experience in leading high-performing teams and influencing stakeholders.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to build trust at different levels.

Responsibilities

• Bridge the gap between theoretically possible and practically implementable systems.
• Engage in requirements capture, definition, development, modelling, manufacture, test and verification of EO/IR technologies.
• Apply and improve systems engineering processes across the full lifecycle.
• Collaborate with project teams to design, build and deliver EO/IR equipment.
