Job summary

SSEN Transmission is seeking a senior leader to head environmental delivery across projects and operations, ensuring compliance with consent conditions and environmental commitments. The role will shape strategy, lead a multi-disciplinary team, and drive performance across construction, commissioning and handover.

You will oversee the Environmental Management System, engage with regulators and authorities, and report to internal committees.

Qualifications

In-depth knowledge of environmental management, legislation and consenting for major infrastructure.
Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams on capital projects with delivery focus.
Experience developing environmental systems, compliance, reporting and changing regulations.
Strong commercial and organisational skills, including contract and financial management.
Degree in environmental or planning with IEMA/RTPI membership.

Responsibilities

Set and lead our environmental strategy for project delivery and operations.
Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team across construction and operations.
Oversee environmental delivery from construction through handover and commissioning.
Own and improve the Environmental Management System and reporting to committees and regulators.
Plan reporting and improvement initiatives using data-driven risk insights.
Manage environmental consultancy and contractor performance and relationships.
