Job summary

SSEN Transmission is seeking a senior leader to head the onshore consents and environment function. You will set strategy for EIA and consenting across a major portfolio and guide a large multi-disciplinary team to deliver robust environmental and regulatory outcomes.

Based in Scotland with a requirement to work 50% in the office (Perth, Glasgow, Aberdeen or Inverness), the role offers a competitive salary, car/allowance where applicable, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of Scottish Environmental Impact Assessment and planning legislation.
• Experience leading large multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and governance experience.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with senior stakeholders.
• Degree in environmental or planning discipline; membership in IEMA or RTPI.

Responsibilities

• Set and lead onshore routing, site selection, environmental assessment and consenting strategies; secure statutory consents.
• Lead and develop a large multi-disciplinary team; ensure safety, quality and delivery.
• Provide senior oversight of environmental and consenting activities across early project lifecycle.
• Build relationships with government departments, consenting bodies, planning authorities and NGOs; represent SSEN Transmission in senior forums.
• Oversee onshore consenting procedures, budgets, reporting and governance.
