Job summary

Assystem is seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits and consents, and to support environmental performance across multiple teams on UK projects.

You will supervise on-site environmental and ecological activities, conduct surveys, and prepare reports while liaising with stakeholders. Knowledge of ISO14001 and CDM 2007 is advantageous; travel to active construction sites will be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in an Environmental Management role with on-site environmental/ecological work.
• Detailed knowledge of UK environmental legislation relevant to construction/industrial installations.
• Ability to work independently with strong communication and influencing skills.
• Experience supervising environmental/ecological fieldwork on sensitive habitats.
• EMS/ISO14001:2015 knowledge and application.
• Willingness to travel to remote or active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Site Supervision and Compliance - Undertaking site inspections and reporting environmental issues; advising on remedial actions.
• Ecological Surveys and Monitoring - Provide on-site ecological guidance to contractors and project teams; conduct walkover surveys and species checks.
• Reporting and Documentation - Provide advice on environment legislation, permits and planning constraints; prepare logs and reports.
• Environmental performance information - Gather and collate environmental performance data.
• Compliance - Support compliance with environmental legislation and demonstrate substantiation of protection equipment.
• Project Support and Coordination - Aid planning and coordination of environmental deliverables; support senior ecologists.
• Stakeholder Engagement - Liaise with stakeholders to ensure environmental requirements are understood and implemented.
• Environmental Management Plan - Review/update the EMP to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Internal Audits - Support self-assessment and internal audits of site activities.
