Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Senior Environment Advisor to join our Thames Water projects team covering major projects in Bedfordshire. This is a site-based role with responsibility across up to five projects in the region, providing expert environmental guidance and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation.

  • ISEP Practitioner membership or Chartered Environmentalist status required.
  • Experience across pre-construction and live Thames Water projects.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Full driving licence and ability to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

  • Review pre-construction information to evaluate environmental risks and opportunities, communicating findings to project teams
  • Support project teams with permits, licences, and consents, engaging with regulatory bodies
  • Conduct environmental inspections and audits, leading on incident investigations and developing learning outcomes
  • Collate sustainability data and reporting progress against objectives, producing case studies and best practice examples
  • Leading training initiatives and chairing meetings to drive the sustainability agenda across the business

Job description

We're looking for a Senior Environment Advisor to join our Thames Water projects team covering major projects in Bedfordshire.

Location: covering Easy Hyde, Bedfordshire and Harpenden, Hertfordshire
Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

As our Environmental lead, you'll provide expert guidance and support to project delivery teams, ensuring environmental legal compliance while supporting the delivery of Thames Water projects and the Kier Building for a Sustainable World Framework. This is a site-based role where you'll work closely with project teams from design through to handover, supporting up to 5 projects across the region.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Environment Advisor, you'll be working within the SHE Team, supporting them in delivering sustainable environmental outcomes across multiple projects. Your day to day will include:

  • Reviewing pre-construction information to evaluate environmental risks and opportunities, communicating findings to project teams
  • Supporting project teams with obtaining permits, licences, and consents, engaging with regulatory bodies

What are we looking for?

This role of Senior Environment Advisor is great for you if:

  • You have a passion for environmental sustainability and strong demonstrable understanding of environmental legislation, licences and consents
  • You hold Full ISEP Practitioner membership or Chartered Environmentalist status
  • You have proven experience working in an environmental role across pre-construction and live projects
  • You possess strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage various stakeholders
  • You hold a Full driving licence and can travel between sites
