Job summary

Backbase is seeking a Senior+ Engineer who leads a squad, owning delivery predictability, engineering quality and people growth. You will balance system design, architecture, and hands-on reviews with coaching and hiring to build a high-performing team.

You will spend time guiding design decisions, driving CI/CD, observability and secure scalability, while actively contributing code reviews and debugging when needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with recent production code contributions.
• Experience leading engineers while remaining an active technical contributor.
• Strong grounding in system design, architecture patterns and modern engineering tooling.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, test automation, observability and quality-focused development practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead a squad of 6 to 9 engineers focusing on delivery predictability and engineering excellence.
• Design reviews, RFCs and architecture decisions with Staff Engineers; ensure security and scalability from the start.
• Balance technical work with people development: coaching, hiring and performance calibration.
• Own delivery metrics, unblock blockers, and coordinate across Product Managers and Domain Architects.
• Champion AI-native tooling adoption and enterprise-grade software practices.
