Job description

Ultra Precision Control Systems (PCS) is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to join the Engineering Function. This role oversees the deployment of personnel into development and support projects within the engineering department. Reporting to the Head of Engineering and collaborating with other Senior Engineering Managers, this position ensures the team meets business needs and manages risk effectively.

The role involves supporting internal and external bids, operations, and customer support, while achieving On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery targets set by the VP of Engineering. Responsibilities include maintaining product safety, reliability, and compliance with standards, managing engineering bids and schedules, and ensuring design consistency and reuse.

Key Responsibilities

1. Implement and adhere to Ultra PCS engineering policies.
2. Ensure on-time project delivery and scope, budget, and deadline clarity.
3. Proactively communicate project issues and deviations.
4. Maintain quality standards and manage risks and opportunities.
5. Lead and develop the engineering team, ensuring resource and skill alignment.
6. Support strategic planning with other senior leaders.
7. Manage contractual commitments and technological assets.
8. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and right-first-time quality.
9. Recruit, mentor, and evaluate engineering staff, supporting early careers.

Qualifications & Experience

1. Engineering degree in a related field; MBA preferred.
2. CEng certification preferred.
3. At least 10 years in design, development, and manufacturing environments.
4. Experience with defense and major prime contractors.
5. Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
6. Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
7. Knowledge of budgets, financial statements, manufacturing methods, and process improvement.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and interpersonal skills.

Security Clearance

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an SC Security Clearance, with potential for DV clearance.
