Job summary

SWARCO UK invites applications for a Senior Engineer to join our Birmingham Depot and support the Black Country contract. The role involves installing, maintaining and commissioning traffic signal and ITS equipment, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality standards.

You will mentor engineers on site, handle planned and reactive maintenance, and participate in standby and call-out arrangements. A relevant electrical/electronic background and UK driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in traffic signal, ITS, signs, electrical or electronic engineering.
• Sector 8 accreditation and associated industry qualifications, including NRSWA, G39 and ECS where applicable.
• Good understanding of safe working practices and Health & Safety requirements.
• The ability to work independently and as part of an operational engineering team.
• The ability to support, coach and share technical knowledge with less experienced Engineers and Trainee Engineers.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• A reliable, practical and safety-focused approach.
• A full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Installing, maintaining, fault-finding and commissioning traffic signal & signs equipment and ITS, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
• Providing practical support and guidance to Engineers and Trainee Engineers on site, sharing technical knowledge.
• Working across planned and reactive maintenance activities, responding to faults, completing required operational documentation and participating in standby and call-out arrangements as required.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join our team based from our Birmingham Depot, supporting the delivery of our Black Country contract.

The role will involve installing, maintaining, fault-finding and commissioning traffic signal & signs equipment and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

As a Senior Engineer, you will also use your experience to provide practical support and guidance to Engineers and Trainee Engineers on site, sharing your technical knowledge and helping to develop capability across the team.

You will work across planned and reactive maintenance activities, respond to faults, complete required operational documentation and participate in standby and call-out arrangements as required.

We are looking for someone with:

• Experience in traffic signal, ITS, signs, electrical or electronic engineering.
• Strong practical engineering, fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
