Job summary

Kitson Associates is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the engineering design on multiple residential developments in Leicestershire, from land appraisal to adoption, working closely with land, technical and construction teams.

You will deliver drainage, highways, levels and earthworks strategies, manage external consultants, prepare Section 38/104/278 agreements, and support planning applications while mentoring junior staff. Hybrid working and a salary up to £70,000 with bonus are offered.

Qualifications

• Current employment with a housebuilder or developer (essential).
• Around 3 years' engineering experience in residential development.
• Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Knowledge of Section 38, 104 and 278 agreements and adoption.
• Experience in drainage design, highways and external works.
• Confident with managing consultants, contractors and local authorities.
• Good commercial awareness and understanding of build costs and abnormals.
• Strong communication and multi-site management ability.
• Proficient in AutoCAD or similar design software (desirable).
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out engineering appraisals and due diligence on land opportunities, including abnormal cost assessments.
• Produce and manage engineering designs and layouts, including drainage, highways, levels and earthworks strategies; appoint and manage external consultants and ensure timely delivery.
• Prepare and negotiate Section 38, 104 and 278 agreements with local authorities and water companies.
• Manage utility applications, diversions and new connections.
• Collaborate with land, planning, technical and commercial teams to support planning applications and discharge conditions.
• Provide technical support to site teams during construction and resolve engineering issues.
• Take developments through to adoption and bond release.
• Stay up to date with building regulations, NHBC standards and industry best practice.
• Support and mentor junior members of the technical team.
