Job summary

SCP Infrastructure & Design, an RS K Group company, is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead highways and drainage design on nationally significant projects. You will mentor engineers and act as a trusted design specialist within a collaborative team.

The role is based in London or Chelmsford with a hybrid pattern (3 days office / 2 days home). Salary £43,000–£53,000 plus 8% employer pension and a supportive, innovation-driven environment.

• Ability to produce technical reports such as Drainage Strategies, FRAs and O&M Manuals.
• Confident communicator with the ability to guide and influence others.

Responsibilities

Senior Engineer – Highways

Salary: £43,000 – £53,000 + 8% Employer Pension Contribution
Hours: 35-hour working week
Location: London or Chelmsford (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home)

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Leading the technical delivery of highways and drainage designs on medium to large projects


• Producing and checking drawings, calculations, and specifications to a high standard


• Providing day-to-day technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and technicians


• Coordinating design inputs and managing workloads to meet programme deadlines


• Reviewing outputs to ensure compliance with standards, legislation, and best practice


• Supporting client engagement and contributing to design discussions and solutions


• Keeping abreast of regulatory changes and championing quality across the team

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong experience in highways and drainage design (roads, foul & surface water)


• Proven background across multiple sectors (residential, commercial, industrial, etc.)


• Experience producing technical reports such as Drainage Strategies, FRAs and O&M Manuals


• Confident communicator with the ability to guide and influence others


• Strong design software and Microsoft Office capability


• A proactive, solutions-focused approach to engineering challenges


• Full UK driving licence
