Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Our client, a well-established and forward-thinking engineering consultancy, is looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join its growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong highways and drainage experience, particularly S38 and S278 agreements, to take a leading role in delivering residential infrastructure projects within a collaborative and supportive environment.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development and technical approval of highways and drainage schemes. You will work closely with clients, local authorities and multidisciplinary teams, taking ownership of projects and ensuring they are delivered to a high technical standard and in accordance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Highways & Drainage Design - Prepare detailed designs for highways and drainage infrastructure, including Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy Reports to support planning applications.
• S38 & S278 Approvals - Manage and progress technical approvals for S38 and S278 agreements, working closely with local authorities and other key stakeholders.
• Technical Delivery - Produce high-quality designs using industry-standard software including AutoCAD, MicroDrainage/Flow and Civil 3D.
• Project & Stakeholder Management - Liaise directly with clients, developers, local authorities and multidisciplinary teams to progress projects and resolve technical challenges.
• Collaboration - Work alongside environmental, planning and other technical specialists to deliver coordinated solutions, including Construction and Environmental Management Plans.
• Compliance & Standards - Ensure designs meet relevant legislation, planning policies, technical standards and industry best practice.
• Team Support - Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers where required.

What We're Looking For

• A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong experience working on UK infrastructure projects, ideally within the residential development sector.
• Demonstrable experience with S38 and S278 agreements and technical approvals.
• Strong knowledge of highway design, drainage and flood risk.
• Experience using AutoCAD, MicroDrainage/Flow and Civil 3D.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to confidently liaise with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders.
• A proactive approach to solving technical challenges and managing project priorities.
• Chartered status, or progress towards professional accreditation, would be advantageous.
