Job summary

Laing O'Rourke's Great Grid Upgrade project in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to provide technical leadership during the pre-construction phase, coordinating engineering activities with design teams, the Project Manager and client stakeholders.

You will review technical information, RAMS and ITPs, ensure buildability and safety, and help shape delivery strategies as the works move toward construction, with opportunities to influence the project from planning through to

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience as a Senior Engineer on major infrastructure projects.
• Experience supporting pre-construction, design development and construction phases.
• Strong understanding of engineering assurance, temporary works, construction methodology and buildability.
• Experience reviewing technical information, RAMS, ITPs and engineering documentation.
• Ability to coordinate with designers, clients, subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive approach delivering safe, high-quality and innovative engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and engineering support during pre-construction.
• Coordinate engineering activities with Project Manager, design teams, client and stakeholders.
• Review technical information and ensure solutions are safe, buildable and meet requirements.
• Support transition into delivery and guidance to wider engineering team.
• Contribute across full lifecycle from planning to construction completion.
