Job summary

Laing O'Rourke are recruiting a Senior Civil Engineer to lead civil engineering activities on a major power infrastructure project for the National Grid Great Grid Upgrade across the UK. You will provide technical leadership on site and within project teams, ensuring civil works are delivered safely, efficiently and to high standards.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering with strong technical knowledge.
• Experience delivering civil works in power/energy or major infra sectors.
• Experience with main contractors on large, multi-disciplinary projects.
• Chartered or working towards chartership is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage civil engineering activities on power sector construction projects.
• Provide technical expertise across earthworks, concrete structures, foundations, drainage.
• Oversee setting out, temporary works coordination, and construction methodologies.
• Ensure works align with design, specifications, programme and budget.
• Mentor engineers and site teams, promote best practice and continuous improvement.
• Liaise with design teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Drive health, safety, quality and environmental performance.
• Support planning, risk management and technical assurance processes.
