Job summary

SOCOTEC UK Ltd is seeking a Senior Geologist to lead complex ground investigation projects within our Infrastructure division. Based in Coventry, you will work independently and with teams, applying your geotechnical expertise and GI experience to ensure successful project delivery.

The role requires a proactive, reliable professional with 5–10 years of site experience and the fitness to work on active construction sites and along roads/railways.

Qualifications

• Degree in geotechnical discipline required.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Fitness for site work on active construction sites and linear projects.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise and programme Ground Investigation projects UK-wide.
• Prepare Health & Safety documentation for site works and promote safe working practices.
• Liaise with clients, engineers and main contractors during site works phase.
• Compile monthly financial project accounts and support GI Projects Manager.

We are seeking a proactive, reliable, and flexible Senior Geologist to join our Coventry-based team. In this role, you'll need the confidence to work independently, alongside the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team. A background in geotechnical disciplines, along with extensive ground investigation experience, is essential to thrive in this position.

The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):

• Day to day responsibility for planning, supervision and programming of Ground Investigation projects at locations throughout the United Kingdom
• Prepare Health & Safety documentation prior to and during the site works phase, as well as assisting with the managing the Health & Safety of operatives and promoting a safe working environment
• Liaise with clients / Engineers / main contractors throughout the site works phase
• Compile monthly financial project accounts and assist the GI Projects Manager in maintaining the financial performance of projects

Qualifications

• Qualified to degree level in a geotechnical discipline
• Full UK driving licence
• Have a minimum level of fitness required to undertake all site based tasks listed above on a variety of sites including active construction sites and linear projects for roads and railways
• 5 - 10 years relevant site and industry experience
