Job summary

SOCOTEC is recruiting a Senior Geologist to lead ground investigation projects within its Infrastructure division from Coventry. The role demands independence and strong team collaboration, backed by a geotechnical background and extensive GI experience.

The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, contribute to health and safety governance, and support project delivery across the UK with a flexible office/field mix.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years relevant site/industry experience.

• Plan, supervise and program Ground Investigation projects across the United Kingdom.

• Compile monthly financial project accounts and assist GI Projects Manager with financial performance.

Senior Geologist

Are you interested in leading complex ground investigation projects? This could be your opportunity to excel as a Senior Geologist, playing a vital role in supporting SOCOTEC's continued success.

As SOCOTEC grows, so do our teams. We're looking for a dedicated Senior Geologist to join our Infrastructure division and wear the SOCOTEC badge with pride.

We are seeking a proactive, reliable, and flexible Senior Geologist to join our Coventry-based team. In this role, you'll need the confidence to work independently, alongside the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team. A background in geotechnical disciplines, along with extensive ground investigation experience, is essential to thrive in this position.
The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):

• Day to day responsibility for planning, supervision and programming of Ground Investigation projects at locations throughout the United Kingdom
• Prepare Health & Safety documentation prior to and during the site works phase, as well as assisting with the managing the Health & Safety of operatives and promoting a safe working environment
• Liaise with clients / Engineers / main contractors throughout the site works phase
• Compile monthly financial project accounts and assist the GI Projects Manager in maintaining the financial performance of projects

Qualifications

To be a successful Principal Geologist, you should be able to demonstrate:

• Qualified to degree level in a geotechnical discipline
• Full UK driving licence
• Have a minimum level of fitness required to undertake all site based tasks listed above on a variety of sites including active construction sites and linear projects for roads and railways
• 5 - 10 years relevant site and industry experience
