Job summary

Durham County Council's Digital Services, Infrastructure and Support section is seeking a Senior Engineer to manage, secure and modernise the Council’s endpoint estate, ensuring colleagues have access to reliable devices and applications.

The role is hands-on, with a focus on device management, endpoint security and automated deployment. It offers a 3-year temporary contract, with hybrid working and a generous rewards package.

Qualifications

• You will need a degree or equivalent qualification in computing or a related discipline and/or in-depth experience of working with centralised device management systems and automated application and operating system deployment tools.
• Strong technical background in endpoint security and the management of modern endpoint environments.

Responsibilities

• Support the security and compliance of the Council’s endpoint estate, helping to implement, maintain and improve technical controls that protect Council devices and data.
• Support and manage the Council’s endpoint estate using modern, centralised device-management technologies.
• Develop, maintain and improve automated processes for application packaging and deployment, operating-system provisioning, configuration, patching and updating.
• Contribute to change, release and service-transition activities, monitoring performance, compliance and risks to ensure changes are introduced securely and effectively.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, taking ownership through to resolution and providing clear advice and guidance to customers and ICT colleagues.
