Job summary

Durham County Council is seeking a Senior Engineer in Durham, Durham. The role focuses on modern device management, endpoint security and automated deployment to ensure reliable, secure devices and applications for staff.

This temporary post (3 years) requires a Computing qualification and strong technical background. You will lead technical initiatives, advise ICT colleagues, and support security controls across the endpoint estate.

Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent qualification in computing or a related discipline.
• Experience with centralised device management systems and automated application/OS deployment tools.
• Strong technical background in endpoint security and modern endpoint environments.
• Ability to implement and maintain security controls alongside deployment, configuration and patching technologies.
• Clear communication with colleagues, customers, suppliers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support security and compliance of the Council's endpoint estate; implement and improve technical controls.
• Manage the endpoint estate using centralised device-management technologies.
• Develop and improve automated processes for packaging and deploying applications and OS provisioning.
• Contribute to change, release and service-transition activities with monitoring of performance and risks.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues and provide guidance to users and ICT teams.
