Job description

What you’ll do:

Join our Electrical Test Design team to develop, validate and support automated electrical test equipment used to verify safety-critical aerospace products. Working across new product introduction, legacy test replacement and production support, you will take ownership of technically challenging work and deliver practical solutions from concept through to operational use.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role combining electrical design, software-controlled test systems, laboratory testing and structured problem-solving. You will guide technical work packages, support and mentor less experienced engineers, and work with manufacturing teams, suppliers, customers and colleagues across Eaton. No two projects are the same, providing an exceptional opportunity to broaden your knowledge across aerospace products, automation, electrical hardware, software and manufacturing systems while seeing your solutions make a direct difference in production.

  • Design, develop, validate and support automated electrical test equipment, test hardware and software-controlled test systems for aerospace products.
  • Take technical ownership of assigned projects and work packages, delivering solutions from initial requirements and concept through to deployment and lifecycle support.
  • Apply aerospace and electrical engineering principles to solve complex technical problems with practical, safe and maintainable solutions.
  • Define technical approaches for assigned activities, making informed trade-offs between safety, performance, cost, schedule, reuse and long-term support.
  • Produce, review and release clear engineering documentation covering requirements, design, verification, test procedures, operating processes and configuration-controlled outputs.
  • Lead troubleshooting, root cause investigation and corrective action relating to test equipment, test processes and product test issues.
  • Work safely and effectively in laboratory and production environments, ensuring facilities and equipment remain safe and serviceable.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, programmes, quality, supply chain, suppliers, customers and other Eaton sites to achieve project objectives.
  • Support the controlled introduction of new and replacement test equipment into operational use.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers, share technical knowledge and promote consistent engineering practice within the team.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of safety, efficiency, reliability, documentation, validation and reuse across electrical test solutions.
  • Provide technical support to the Electrical Test Design Manager and Lead Engineer, including reviews and technical decision-making within the scope of assigned work.
Qualifications:

Engineering or science degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent relevant experience.

Minimum 7 years within engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, electrical test, automated test equipment, product development or a closely related technical environment.

Skills:
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, electronic hardware and automated electrical test design.
  • Able to interpret and review circuit diagrams, interface definitions, test requirements and technical documentation.
  • Experience designing, developing, validating or supporting electrical test hardware and software-controlled test systems.
  • Able to debug equipment using laboratory instruments such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes and other electrical or electronic test equipment.
  • Software coding experience, ideally within LabVIEW, TestStand or a comparable software-controlled test environment, is desirable.
  • Understanding of requirements management, verification and validation, configuration management and lifecycle control of engineering outputs.
  • Working knowledge of health and safety expectations and the controlled introduction of equipment into laboratory, production or test environments.
  • Able to balance technical requirements with safety, cost, schedule, reuse, maintainability and operational impact.

"- Self-directed and accountable, with the ability to take ownership of technically challenging work with limited guidance.

  • Practical problem-solver who uses evidence, engineering judgement and attention to detail to reach robust decisions.
  • Clear communicator, able to explain technical subjects to engineers, managers, suppliers and customers.
  • Collaborative and comfortable working across functions, disciplines and sites.
  • Confident providing constructive technical challenge and receptive to challenge from others.
  • Willing to mentor less experienced engineers, share knowledge and strengthen team capability.
  • Curious and motivated to continue learning across electrical, software, aerospace and manufacturing technologies.
