Fawkes & Reece London is seeking a Freelance Senior Engineer to join the Civils Framework at Gatwick Airport. The role requires strong setting-out, surveying skills and the ability to coordinate site activities to ensure delivery to drawings and programme.

• Proven senior engineer experience in civil/infrastructure projects.
• Strong setting-out and surveying skills.

Responsabilidades

• Manage and coordinate day-to-day site engineering activities across civil engineering and infrastructure works.
• Oversee setting out, surveying and dimensional control to ensure works align with drawings and specs.
• Review construction drawings, technical documentation and design information, identifying and resolving issues.
• Support and coordinate Site Engineers, providing technical guidance and ensuring high standards of engineering delivery.
• Liaise with site management, subcontractors, design teams and stakeholders to maintain progress and resolve queries.
• Ensure quality assurance procedures are followed, including inspections, ITPs and as-built documentation.
• Monitor progress against the construction programme and flag delays or technical challenges.
• Maintain accurate survey records, site documentation and engineering reports.

Rate: Up to £450 per day CIS

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Senior Engineer to join a civils framework at Gatwick Airport. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and proactive Senior Engineer with a solid background in civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating engineering activities, overseeing setting-out operations and ensuring construction works are delivered safely, accurately and in accordance with project specifications, drawings and programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate day-to-day site engineering activities across civil engineering and infrastructure works.
• Oversee setting out, surveying and dimensional control to ensure works are delivered in line with approved drawings and specifications.
• Review construction drawings, technical documentation and design information, identifying and resolving engineering issues.
• Support and coordinate Site Engineers, providing technical guidance and ensuring high standards of engineering delivery.
• Liaise with site management, subcontractors, design teams and other stakeholders to maintain progress and resolve technical queries.
• Ensure quality assurance procedures are followed, including inspections, ITPs, quality records and as-built documentation.
• Monitor engineering progress against the construction programme and help identify potential delays or technical challenges.
• Ensure all works comply with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Maintain accurate survey records, site documentation and engineering reports.
• Assist with planning upcoming works, coordinating resources and ensuring engineering requirements are met.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a Senior Engineer role within civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Strong setting-out and surveying skills.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience managing engineering activities and supporting site teams.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance, site documentation and construction procedures.
• Excellent communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive approach with the ability to work effectively in a demanding site environment.
• Previous experience on major infrastructure or airport projects would be advantageous.
