Job summary

Fawkes & Reece London is seeking a Freelance Senior Engineer to join the Civils Framework at Gatwick Airport. The role requires strong setting-out, surveying skills and the ability to coordinate site activities to ensure delivery to drawings and programme.

The successful candidate will review technical documentation, support site engineers and liaise with management, subcontractors and design teams. This demanding role offers exposure to major airport infrastructure projects and a competitive

Qualifications

• Proven senior engineer experience in civil/infrastructure projects.
• Strong setting-out and surveying skills.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
• Experience coordinating site teams and QA procedures.
• Excellent communication and proactive on-site approach.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate day-to-day site engineering activities across civil engineering and infrastructure works.
• Oversee setting out, surveying and dimensional control to ensure works align with drawings and specs.
• Review construction drawings, technical documentation and design information, identifying and resolving issues.
• Support and coordinate Site Engineers, providing technical guidance and ensuring high standards of engineering delivery.
• Liaise with site management, subcontractors, design teams and stakeholders to maintain progress and resolve queries.
• Ensure quality assurance procedures are followed, including inspections, ITPs and as-built documentation.
• Monitor progress against the construction programme and flag delays or technical challenges.
• Maintain accurate survey records, site documentation and engineering reports.
