Job summary

Project Centre is a leading design, engineering, and landscape consultancy based in London, delivering high-profile highway structures projects across the UK. This role seeks a Senior Highway Structures Engineer to lead designs, calculations and mentoring within a collaborative team.

You'll work on complex highway structure projects, with opportunities for career progression, Chartered status support, and hybrid working. Excellent knowledge of DMRB, MCHW and NEC contracts is expected.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng or IEng) or actively working towards chartership.
• Around 5+ years' experience in highway structures or bridge engineering.
• Strong knowledge of steel and reinforced concrete bridge design and assessment.
• Experience delivering highway bridge and civil structures projects.

Responsibilities

• Delivering concept, preliminary and detailed highway structure designs.
• Producing and checking engineering calculations, technical reports and drawings.
• Carrying out complex structural analysis and reviewing the work of junior engineers.
• Providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to developing team members.
• Managing project budgets, programmes and delivering work to agreed targets.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
• Attending client meetings and representing Project Centre professionally.
• Planning and undertaking site inspections and structural investigations.
• Supporting the implementation of CDM responsibilities and promoting best practice.
• Using bridge management systems and structural databases.

About The Role

We're looking for a Senior Highway Structures Engineer to join our expanding engineering team. What We're Looking For

• Master's or Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng or IEng), or actively working towards chartership.
• Around 5+ years' experience in highway structures or bridge engineering.
• Strong technical knowledge of steel and reinforced concrete bridge design and assessment.
• Proven experience delivering highway bridge and civil structures projects.
• Good working knowledge of DMRB and MCHW standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience reviewing and checking technical work.
• Commercial awareness, including experience with NEC contracts, budgets and programmes.
• Understanding of CDM Regulations and health & safety responsibilities.
