Job summary

Calibre Search is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead on a major civils/energy infrastructure project at Teesside, working with the Principal Contractor on Net Zero Teesside. The role focuses on delivering technical direction, ensuring safety, quality and programme adherence.

You will review design submissions, coach junior engineers, and coordinate with design, commercial and site teams to keep works practical and deliverable.

Qualifications

• Must have Civil Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Proven Senior Engineer experience on major civils/energy infra.
• Experience with Principal Contractor on large schemes.
• Hold SMSTS/SSSTS and CSCS cards.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical and engineering leadership on site.
• Review and approve method statements, drawings, and submissions.
• Ensure work aligns with design intent, specs and quality standards.
• Support resolution of technical queries and design changes.
• Coach and develop junior engineers and graduates.
• Maintain engineering records and documentation.
• Uphold health, safety and environmental standards.

Senior Engineer - Principal Contractor
Teesside

Working with the Principal Contractor on Net Zero Teesside, one of the UK's most significant low-carbon infrastructure programmes, we're looking for a Senior Engineer to join the team delivering this landmark project. This is a genuine opportunity to work on a nationally important scheme, with a business that's investing heavily in the region and in the people delivering it.

The Role

You’ll take a lead engineering role across your area of the works, providing technical direction to junior engineers and ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme, and to the standard the project demands. You’ll work closely with design, commercial and site teams to keep engineering solutions practical, compliant and deliverable.

• Provide day-to-day technical and engineering leadership on site
• Review and approve method statements, drawings and technical submissions
• Ensure work is carried out in line with design intent, specification and quality standards
• Support the resolution of technical queries and design changes as they arise
• Coach and develop junior engineers and graduates within the team
• Liaise with designers, subcontractors and the wider project team to keep works progressing
• Maintain accurate engineering records, as-builts and technical documentation
• Uphold the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance

About You

• Proven experience as a Senior Engineer on major civils, industrial or energy infrastructure projects
• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience working for a Principal Contractor on large, complex schemes
• SMSTS/SSSTS and CSCS
• Strong technical and problem-solving ability, comfortable making decisions on site
• Full UK driving licence
