Job summary

Calibre Search is seeking a Senior Engineer to join the Teesside Principal Contractor team on a major UK energy infrastructure project. The role involves technical leadership on site, ensuring design intent is met, and coordinating with design, commercial and site teams to deliver safely and to programme.

You will guide junior engineers, review technical submissions, and maintain comprehensive records while upholding high safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Engineer on major civils or energy infrastructure projects.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience working for a Principal Contractor on large, complex schemes.
• SMSTS/SSSTS and CSCS accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical and engineering leadership on site.
• Review and approve method statements, drawings and submissions.
• Ensure works align with design intent, specs and quality standards.
• Support resolution of technical queries and design changes as they arise.
• Coach and develop junior engineers and graduates.
• Liaise with designers, subcontractors and project teams to keep works progressing.
• Maintain accurate engineering records and as-builts.
• Uphold health, safety and environmental compliance.

Senior Engineer - Principal Contractor Teesside

Working with the Principal Contractor on Net Zero Teesside, one of the UK's most significant low-carbon infrastructure programmes, we're looking for a Senior Engineer to join the team delivering this landmark project. This is a genuine opportunity to work on a nationally important scheme, with a business that's investing heavily in the region and in the people delivering it.

Role

You’ll take a lead engineering role across your area of the works, providing technical direction to junior engineers and ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme, and to the standard the project demands. You’ll work closely with design, commercial and site teams to keep engineering solutions practical, compliant and deliverable.

Responsibilities

About You

• Strong technical and problem-solving ability, comfortable making decisions on site
• Full UK driving licence
