Job summary

RTL Group Ltd in Leeds is recruiting an experienced Senior Engineer to lead on-site delivery of a major water treatment project. You will ensure safety, quality and programme adherence while coordinating subcontractors and mentoring junior engineers.

The role offers a 12-month contract with immediate start, site-based work on a high-profile UK water infrastructure scheme and regular weekly payments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Senior Engineer on civil or water projects.
• Experience delivering water/wastewater or utility schemes desirable.
• Knowledge of reinforced concrete, drainage and pipelines.
• Experience with surveying equipment (Leica/Trimble).
• CSCS Card required; SMSTS preferred; First Aid desirable; driving licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site engineering activities across the project.
• Oversee setting out and ensure accuracy throughout construction.
• Produce QA docs, ITPs and inspection records.
• Maintain site records, as-built surveys and engineering docs.
• Coordinate subcontractors and support Site Agent with daily site operations.
• Review drawings, specs and technical documentation.
• Ensure works are delivered safely and on programme.
• Mentor Site Engineers and Graduates.
• Assist with planning, temporary works and problem-solving.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Engineer to join a major water treatment project in Leeds.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile infrastructure scheme, supporting the successful delivery of a key project within the UK water sector.

The Role

As Senior Engineer, you will take a leading role in the day-to-day engineering delivery of the project, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards and programme requirements. You will work closely with the Site Agent and Project Manager, providing technical leadership while supporting junior engineers and coordinating subcontractors on site.

Senior Engineer Responsibilities:

• Managing and overseeing site engineering activities across the project.
• Leading setting out and ensuring engineering accuracy throughout the construction programme.
• Producing and reviewing QA documentation, ITPs and inspection records.
• Maintaining accurate site records, as-built surveys and engineering documentation.
• Coordinating subcontractors and supporting the Site Agent with daily site operations.
• Reviewing engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme and in accordance with project requirements.
• Mentoring and supporting Site Engineers and Graduate Engineers where required.
• Assisting with planning, temporary works coordination and technical problem-solving throughout the project.

Senior Engineer Requirements:

• Proven experience working as a Senior Engineer on civil engineering or water infrastructure projects.
• Previous experience delivering water treatment, wastewater treatment or utility infrastructure schemes is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, drainage, pipelines and associated civil engineering works.
• Competent in the use of Leica, Trimble or similar surveying equipment.
• Valid CSCS Card (essential).
• SMSTS preferred.
• First Aid qualification desirable.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.
