Job summary

RTL Group Ltd in Glasgow is seeking two senior engineers to join a major project for 24 months. Reporting to the Senior Agent, you will ensure quality, safety, and cost-effective delivery while collaborating with the broader project team.

You will supervise site works, mentor junior engineers, ensure RAMS, ITPs and MARs are in place, manage resources, review drawings for errors, maintain the programme, and keep detailed daily diaries with timely reports to the construction manager.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering qualifications including HNC/HND/BSc/MSc/BEng/MEng.
• SMSTS and CSCS required; site safety training mandatory.
• CAT & Genny training and other relevant training desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supervise works to maintain highest health and safety standards.
• Mentor Junior Engineers and verify setting out with engineers/surveyors.
• Ensure RAMS, ITPs and MARs are in place and followed.
• Identify and secure plant, labour and materials in good time.
• Review drawings for errors and raise TQs to the project team.
• Maintain programme and record resources and outputs against plan.
• Communicate issues and maintain comprehensive records of resources for additional works.
• Maintain daily diary and upload reports; email end-of-shift summaries to management.

Job description

RTL Group are currently supporting a major contractor in their search for two highly skilled senior engineers to work on a major project running for 24 months in the heart of Glasgow.

Reporting to the Senior Agent you will be responsible for ensuring that the works elements under your control are delivered to the correct quality and in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner. Working collaboratively with the wider project team to deliver successful project outcomes.

What will I be doing?

• Supervise the works to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained
• In conjunction with the engineers and surveyors, ensure all setting out is present and correct before work starts and mentor the Junior Engineers as required
• Ensure all RAMS are in place and suitable prior to works commencing and being followed as works are undertaken
• Ensure ITPs and MARs are in place prior to works commencing and followed/completed during the works
• In conjunction with the discipline Supervisor, ensure that plant, labour and materials for each item of work are identified and available in good time
• Review the drawings and specification to identify errors and omissions and bring these to the attention of the project team via TQ's
• Maintain program and identify opportunities. Record resources and monitor outputs against program
• Communicate with the project team, issues of non-conformances and contractual correspondence, maintaining comprehensive records of resources employed on additional works
• Keep a full and accurate daily diary, including any changes / variations, specialist attendances, upload all daily diary reports onto BC and provide the construction manager/senior agent/works manager with an emailed report at the end of each night shift

About you

• Civil Engineering related qualification (HNC, HND, BSc MSc, BEng, MEng)
• Able to provide suitable experience delivering complex structures/roadworks
• Site Management Safety Training Scheme SMSTS
• Relevant CSCS Card
• CAT & Genny trained
• Other relevant training (preferred includes Appointed Person, relevant lifting training and temporary works co-ordination and first aid/fire marshall)
• Understanding of Engineering Principles and extensive technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices
• Knowledge of construction contracts and forms of contract through formal training
• Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system, Primavera software)
