Goodman Masson is supporting a UK regulatory body to appoint an Enforcement Policy Lawyer. Based in Birmingham with a hybrid 40% office presence, the role focuses on shaping enforcement policy, providing strategic legal advice, and ensuring robust, adaptable enforcement frameworks within the public interest.

The successful candidate will lead policy workstreams, assess complex regulatory matters, and draft high-level policy papers while engaging with government and external bodies.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with active SRA or BSB registration.
• Typically 6+ years PQE in public/regulatory law.
• Experience advising on policy strategy, procedural frameworks, or legal reform.
• Strong drafting, analytical, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead workstreams designing enforcement policy frameworks and procedural guidelines.
• Deliver high-quality legal and strategic policy advice on enforcement proceedings.
• Collaborate with government departments and regulatory bodies on joint issues.
• Draft formal policy advice, consultation responses, and strategic briefs for executives.
