Job summary

Clear Street in London is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build the next generation of our futures and options EMS platform, delivering low-latency execution, real-time market data, and robust risk controls in a cloud-enabled stack.

You’ll work with product, traders and back-end engineers to translate requirements into maintainable components, uphold high standards, and ensure operational health with strong SLAs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience using Java.
• At least 4 years of experience with modern technologies, including a proven track record operating at Senior Engineer level.
• Hands-on experience building and supporting low-latency, front-office trading systems.
• Deep understanding of execution management systems (EMS), including their core functionality and workflows.
• Strong knowledge of software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
• A collaborative mindset and a preference for working in team-oriented environments.
• A strong commitment to engineering quality, reliability, and high development standards.
• Passion for delivering a best-in-class developer experience, with a focus on tooling, performance, and maintainability.

Responsibilities

• You will be building a brand new EMS platform for Listed Futures and Options.
• Translate product and design requirements into clean, maintainable and well-tested components.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, business, traders, designers and back-end engineers to deliver high-quality experiences.
• Identify and resolve performance, accessibility, and usability issues across the application.
• Participate in code reviews, contribute to shared component libraries, and help uphold our engineering standards.
• Support the operational health of your features and help maintain a high SLA.
