Job summary

National Gas, Britain's national gas network, is seeking an Employee Relations Complex Cases Specialist to join the HR team. You will provide risk-based, practical ER advice and training to line managers on sickness absence, disciplinary issues, grievances and harassment, contributing to policy development and compliant processes.

The role involves coaching managers, supporting complex hearings, and helping to upskill teams in line with legal requirements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Employee Relations specialist handling complex cases.
• Strong understanding of UK employment law and ACAS guidance.
• Experience coaching managers on sickness absence, performance, grievances and harassment.

Responsibilities

• Provide a visible, timely ER service to managers on complex cases.
• Coach managers and HR colleagues on policy improvements and guidance.
• Attend disciplinary appeal hearings and final-stage sickness absence hearings.
• Support and coach on complex sickness absence and performance cases up to PIP Stage 3.
• Advise on discrimination, bullying and harassment matters and investigations.
• Review cases that may lead to dismissal and support fair decision-making.
• Design and deliver learning programmes to upskill managers on policy requirements and changes.
• Facilitate confidential discussions and share ER trends with leadership.
