Job summary

Element Materials Technology Ltd seeks a Principal EMC Engineer with deep expertise in Military and Aerospace EMC standards. You will provide technical leadership, sign off complex reports, govern testing procedures and mentor engineers while supporting hands-on testing when required.

You will drive calibration sign-off, maintain test methods, and prepare for UKAS ISO/IEC 17025 audits, ensuring high quality and compliance across projects and customers.

Qualifications

• Extensive EMC testing experience in military and aerospace domains.
• Strong knowledge of DEF STAN 59-411, MIL-STD-461, RTCA DO-160 and related EMC standards.
• Proven ability to review and sign EMC reports in an ISO/IEC 17025 environment.
• Deep understanding of EMC test equipment, measurement techniques, calibration and equipment control.
• Experience with calibration sign-off and assessment of equipment suitability is desirable.
• Ability to develop and maintain technical procedures and quality-controlled docs.
• Solid understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 and UKAS audits and accreditation.
• Strong communication and technical leadership with mentoring capability.
• Ability to provide clear technical direction without formal line-management duties.
• Strong problem-solving skills for complex projects and investigations.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across Military and Aerospace EMC activities.
• Be an authorised report signatory for EMC reports under ISO/IEC 17025.
• Perform hands-on EMC testing as needed to support delivery.
• Guide engineers in test prep, execution and interpretation of standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians for competency development.
• Provide day-to-day technical guidance to the EMC team.
• Develop and maintain internal EMC procedures and test methods.
• Act as an Authorised Person for calibration sign-off and assess equipment.
