Job summary

ALL.SPACE in Reading is seeking a software engineer to deliver embedded real-time C++ for our satellite communications platform. You will design, implement, test and debug features across hardware and software, collaborating in an Agile team.

The role requires hands-on work on target hardware at Reading sites, with potential hybrid on-site time, and a culture of integrity, innovation and execution excellence.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience delivering real-time embedded software.
• Full lifecycle development experience.
• Experience with Linux and FreeRTOS.
• Familiarity with hardware interfaces (Serial, Ethernet, SPI, CAN).
• Hardware debugging and performance characterisation.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Jira/Confluence for documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform requirements analysis with stakeholders.
• Create architecture and design documentation for new software features.
• Deliver tested software features for an embedded real-time system using C++.
• Implement automated unit and integration tests.
• Test and debug on simulation and on target hardware.
• Lead investigation and resolution of software issues.
• Apply standard design patterns for quality, security, modifiability, extensibility.
• Work within an Agile framework and contribute to the software lifecycle.
• Take technical ownership of software features and roadmap.
• Present reports to stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices.
