Job summary

Voltempo is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to shape the firmware for EV charging systems in Tyseley, Birmingham. You will design, implement and test embedded software in C++ for resource-constrained hardware, aligning with MISRA guidelines and integration with cloud services.

The role involves bringing up STM32 firmware, building gateways between charger subsystems and the cloud, and working with hardware partners on diagnostics and validation. Hybrid on-site role supported.

Qualifications

Extensive experience in C++ for embedded systems.
Hands-on with serial/bus protocols (CAN, Modbus/RS485) and MQTT/WebSockets.
RTOS or bare-metal environments; firmware integration with higher-level apps.
Experience with firmware/hardware integration, field diagnostics and testing.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/EE or related field.

Responsibilities

Develop embedded software in C++ following MISRA guidelines.
Bring up and test firmware on STM32 microcontrollers.
Architect and implement communication gateways between charger subsystems, vehicles and cloud services.
Work with hardware and external partners on bring-up, diagnostics and validation.
Contribute to testing infrastructure and safe remote updates.
