Job summary

Matchtech in Birmingham is seeking a Principal Vehicle Charging Systems Engineer to drive charging features for next‑gen battery‑inverter technology. The role requires MBSE expertise and a strong background in high‑voltage EV charging, working with multi‑disciplinary teams.

The position is permanent with hybrid working in the Birmingham area. You will shape system architecture, run FMEA activities and ensure compliance with engineering standards and health and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

Degree-level qualification in engineering, mathematics, physics or another technical discipline.
Significant systems engineering experience in automotive, engineering or electrification.
Experience with high-voltage charging systems and EV charging points.
Proficiency with MBSE, SysML and Enterprise Architect toolchain.
Understanding of FMEA, requirements analysis and cross-functional delivery.

Responsibilities

Lead development of charging features using Model-Based Systems Engineering practices.
Decompose stakeholder requirements into detailed technical specs for hardware and software teams.
Provide expertise in AC/DC charging, including vehicle-to-grid technology.
Collaborate with systems, hardware, software and test engineers to deliver integrated features.
Contribute to system interfaces with hardware and software design teams.
Perform S-FMEA and D-FMEA at system and design levels.
Build SysML models and diagrams using the Enterprise Architect toolchain.
Support compliance with EH&S, quality and engineering standards.
