Job summary

Kopin Europe (was Forth Dimension Displays) seeks an Embedded Software Engineer III in Dalgety Bay, Scotland. You will design and optimize firmware for ARM‑based and MCU platforms across wearable/display products, working with hardware teams to ensure real‑time performance and low power consumption.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline with embedded systems focus.
• 5–8 years of professional embedded software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience with RTOS or bare‑metal development and hardware interface drivers.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain firmware and embedded software for portable, wearable, and low‑power devices.
• Develop device drivers, HALs, and BSP components for ARM‑ and MCU‑based platforms.
• Optimize real‑time performance for resource‑constrained hardware with attention to power and memory.
• Implement multithreading, interrupts, timers, DMA, and context switching in RTOS or bare‑metal environments.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to define firmware‑to‑hardware interfaces and timing expectations.
• Debug and troubleshoot system‑level issues including display timing, sensor alignment, and memory bandwidth.
• Contribute to design docs, code reviews, tests, and validation; build engineering tools as needed.
